**Job Summary**:
In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Program Manager and Program Director, and in accordance with established policies, procedures, standards of practice and guidelines, the Psychologist plans and organizes the provision of services for the Pediatric Gender Health Program, in consultation with the, Professional Practice Lead of Psychology, and provides psychological services to assigned patients/clients with a variety of medical, developmental, behavioural, psychiatric and other problems. The Psychologist works from a family-centered, trauma-informed care model, providing clinical care and leadership informed by evidence-based practices. Contributes to departmental and organizational mandates and goals related to C&W’s role as an academic health centre.

**Duties/Accountabilities**:
1. Plans and organizes the provision of services for the Gender Health Program in consultation with the Program Manager and Program Director. Participates in activities related to coordinating the team as required for the program’s delivery.

2. Coordinates and delivers Mental Health and Readiness Assessments for gender healthcare, which includes clinical interviews, questionnaire administration, collateral interviews and reviews of documentation, review of medical transition, capacity assessment and provision of other measures as appropriate. Documents assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes and advises other members of the treatment team.

3. Provides therapeutic psychosocial intervention to children, adolescents, and caregivers, in an individual, parent, family or group context. Areas of clinical focus may include psychoeducation about gender diversity and transition, family adjustment, transition supports, crisis intervention, conflict resolution and managing co-occurring mental health concerns.

4. Advocates for the patient, family or caregiver for resources within the hospital and the community.

5. Functions as a primary Psychology contact for treatment teams, individuals or persons serving the Pediatric Gender Health Program. Makes recommendations for program planning and the revision of criteria and procedures for referrals, needs assessment and case documentation. Promotes the services of the program, clinic or Psychology Department to the public, community and Professionals’ groups as requested by the Program Manager and Program Director. Conducts public education lectures and clinician training lectures regarding gender health.

6. Provides information and advice to colleagues, physicians and hospital personnel regarding psychological assessment, treatment modalities and patient care issues. Prepares and delivers in-service presentations to department and hospital staff. Represents the department at various meetings as designated.

7. Supervises and provides evaluations for Psychology Interns and other trainees and students as requested by the Gender Health program. Participates in training post-doctoral fellows as appropriate.

9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:
Education, Training and Experience
- Graduate in a Doctorate level program in Psychology.
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.
- Training at the doctoral level in child clinical and/or developmental psychology, including course work, training and/or experience in diversity and intersectionality.
- One year of recent related experience that includes completion of Mental Health and Readiness Assessments for children and youth.

Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current literature on gender diversity in childhood and adolescence.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in using electronic databases created via programs such as REDCap.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and present ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out duties in a timely fashion.
- Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, develop/implement short-term and long-term objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team and to deal effectively with other professionals and with patients.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and provide instruction.
- Proficiency in computer skills related to report writing and to recording and managing data.
- Motivation to contribute to team and program development.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
