The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a full time, contract (12 months) **Research Coordinator **to support work within 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline (9-8-8) and its related projects. Reporting to the Research Manager, the Research Coordinator will work closely with the principal investigator(s) and the Research Team to support all aspects of research planning, community outreach and engagement, data collection and analysis, and knowledge translation. The Research Coordinator will collaborate with other personnel to ensure high quality execution of the projects in accordance with the project deliverables.
9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline is a national helpline for anyone in Canada who is thinking about suicide, or who is worried about someone they know. The service launched on November 30, 2023, and offers a safe space to talk by phone or by text, in English or French, 24/7/365. 9-8-8 is funded by the Government of Canada and CAMH works closely with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) to deliver the service. Research and evaluation dimensions of 9-8-8 include establishing best-practices in intervention, improving equity of services, exploring the needs and preferences of diverse populations, and understanding the perspectives of people with lived and living experiences. We are also exploring relevant intersections with digital health and artificial intelligence (AI).
The Research Coordinator will be supporting a number of research and evaluation projects related to 9-8-8 to facilitate continuous equity-driven improvement aligned with 9-8-8’s quality framework. Insights from research and evaluation projects will be used to support the development of targeted recommendations, educational supports, and quality improvement initiatives for 9-8-8 and the broader crisis and distress sector in order to advance a more inclusive and responsive support system for those in crisis. The Research Coordinator will also help liaise with 9-8-8’s Lived Experience Caucus as needed to support related projects. The Research Coordinator will support additional qualitative and quantitative research work as required.
**Key Accountabilities**
Tasks for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Planning and coordination of all aspects of multiple national research and evaluation projects including developing and maintaining project plans and adherence to project timelines;
- Collaborating with principal investigator(s) to create robust qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis plans (including overseeing the development and implementation of any applicable tools/instruments).
- Leading and managing new research and evaluation protocol submissions and documentation for CAMH Research Ethics Board and Quality Project Ethics Review;
- Troubleshooting problems at all stages of project development and implementation and assisting with modifying protocols or project procedures to address challenges;
- Recruiting project participants including designing promotional strategies and related materials to encourage participation and support for the research and evaluation projects;
- Overseeing the collection and analysis of research and evaluation data while ensuring high data quality;
- Contributing to knowledge transfer activities including preparing slide decks for presentations, creating posters, and supporting draft manuscripts for publication as well as abstract preparation and submission, where necessary;
- and other administrative, research and evaluation activities as required.
The Research Coordinator will provide day-to-day oversight for the execution of research and evaluation tasks in line with appropriate protocols, policies, and procedures, and will work closely with the Education Coordinators and Research Analysts to ensure they are complete.
**Job Requirements**
- Previous experience working in suicide preventions and/or the distress centre/crisis line sector is an asset
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Notes and PowerPoint), navigation of online academic search engines (e.g., PsycINFO, PubMed, Medline), Adobe Acrobat, Covidence, SurveyMonkey, and REDCap
- Rigorous quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills, and experience utilizing relevant software, such as SPSS, NVivo, etc.
- Experience working with design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud) is an asset.
- Superior organizational skills with high attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and integrity in all work while meeting project deadlines and requirements
- Demonstrated experience contributing to grants writing, research reports, academic publications, and presentations for community-based and scientific audiences is required
