**Job Summary**

**CIMT College **is looking for a dynamic instructor for its Renovation and Construction Technician program that can provide theoretical as well practical learning to the students.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field
- Instruct curriculum using only pre-authorized and provided materials
- Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, independent or group projects
- Administer and marks quizzes, assignments, exams and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students’ progress according to guidelines and procedures
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly
- Provide feedback on student performance
- Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course
- Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multi-cultural environment
- Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude
- Maintain attendance records accurately
- Assure that classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at end of class without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources
- Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future career
- Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation
- Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information
- Display an attitude of teamwork and problem solving
- Perform other related duties as required

**Skills Required**:

- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems
- Excellent oral and written communication to present information in a way that students will understand as well as adapt to the different learning styles
- Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model
- Online teaching (training provided, but computer skills are essential)

**Qualifications**:

- Have 48 months of work experience in the vocation/field OR
- Have 36 months of teaching experience in the vocation and 24 months of work experience in the vocation OR
- Have 24 months of work experience in the vocation AND
- Hold a Bachelor degree from a Canadian university or an equivalent degree
- Graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent
- Graduate of a registered OCC or equivalent
- AEC/DEP or Skilled Trades Certificate (preferred)

**Experience**:

- ** Foundations** - Choosing the correct foundation, either concrete or wood, and in the concepts and process of building a foundation. Students are introduced to the required tools for foundation construction. They learn about minor repairs and upgrades to foundations, as well as how to replace a shallow foundation. Students also learn about damp basement solutions.
- ** Blueprints and Building Codes** - Architectural and blueprint reading from the perspective of someone who will need rudimentary skills for construction and renovation in order to find and understand critical information on blueprints. Students learn about sheet sizes, tile blocks and borders, as well as the importance of lettering, abbreviations, and symbols on architectural drawings. Students also learn about architectural scales and notations, as well as the proper techniques for folding and storing blueprints.
- ** AutoCAD Level 1** - The basics of AutoCAD so that students can use it in a productive manner as it pertains to renovation and construction. Students learn to switch between Classic and Drafting and Annotation workspaces, and well as mode space and papers pace. Students will learn to work with basic draw commands, add layers, text and text styles, colors, line types, and line weights. Students will learn to set up a basic layout with a properly scaled viewpoint, and plot the layout accordingly.
- ** Tools and Shop Equipment **- Learn how to use and maintain hand tools like handsaws, hammers, abrading tools (sandpaper, rasps), dismantling tools (nail pullers, wrecking bars), and chisels. Students next learn about portable power tools, like screw and nail guns, abrading tools (grinders and sanders), planning tools, and routers. Students learn about stationary power tools like table saws, chop saws, miter saws, drilling and boring tools. Students also learn about explosive actuated tools, as wel
