The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centres. The Faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 PhD students).

The Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing will educate nurses who are reflective practitioners and provide recognized leadership in nursing research, theory, practice, inter-professional health teaching and learning, and policy advancements.

To achieve this mission, our research programs focus on developing knowledge capable of enhancing health equity by transforming practice, services, education and policies that affect health and well-being across the lifespan. Research programs reflect 5 overlapping areas of strength: Women’s Health; Violence, Gender and Health; Digital Health; Mental Health; and Global and Indigenous Health.

**Responsibilities**:
Working with the Associate Director (Research), the Research Officer provides critical infrastructure support that promotes research excellence, innovation, and impact to assist the Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing in achieving its research mandate. The Research Officer will provide critical research grant facilitation and support. This role will support and contribute to the strategic planning and reporting of research activity and will provide guidance, mentoring, training and capacity development in collaboration with the Associate Director (Research). The Research Officer will monitor and support financial administration of the Nursing Research Unit and provide project-specific financial management advice and support to ensure compliance with existing guidelines, and for reporting and forecasting. The role will collaborate to develop research communications and knowledge mobilization and will implement other priority initiatives established by the School with respect to research and scholarship.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Master’s degree in a health or social science discipline
- PhD in a health or social sciences discipline is preferred

**Experience**:

- 3 years experience with coordinating projects or program in a research environment
- Experience in budget development and financial administration
- Experience reviewing research proposals, promoting research communications and knowledge mobilization/innovation activities.
- Previous experience in research services or partnership development in a research
- intensive University is preferred- Experience contributing to research and peer-reviewed publication in areas that align with one or more of the research strengths in the school of Nursing is preferred
- Previous research experience and/or training related to equity/social justice, applied research methods, working with diverse populations, including Indigenous peoples is preferred
- Experience working in inter-disciplinary teams of researchers and with non-academic partners preferred
- Previous experience developing and enacting Knowledge Mobilization strategies is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Demonstrated knowledge of research principles and methods (quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods)
- Communication skills to write clearly, and adapt oral and written communication style and content for individuals at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders
- Critical thinking skills to analyze problems, and collect information required to make an accurate conclusion
- Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
- Resourceful with a strong sense of accountability and initiative; able to work independently with little supervision
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective, respectful, mutually beneficial relationships with varied stakeholders (e.g. academics, students, service providers, policy makers)
- Detail-oriented with an ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
- Financial skills to monitor research project funds and expenditures to promote the effective use of resources
- Adapts readily and effectively to changing priorities and demands
- Ability to take responsibility for own work and ensure that deadlines are met and outcomes are achieved
