**Job Purpose & Responsibilities**:
The City of Cold Lake is seeking an enthusiastic individual to assume the **full-time, permanent** position of Human Resources Advisor within the Corporate Services Department.
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Advisor supports all functions of the HR Department including, but not limited to, employee/labour relations, payroll & benefits, collective agreement interpretation, safety, and recruitment. This position acts as an ambassador for the City of Cold Lake by providing excellent customer service to both internal staff members and community members.
The HR Advisor will review and implement job descriptions, policies, procedures in accordance with the collective agreement and Employment Standards. The incumbent must form positive working relationships and be able to deal with confidential and sensitive information related to labour relations. The HR Advisor is responsible for the interpretation and monitoring of collective agreement rules and regulations as they relate to HR policies. The position will assist the manager in investigations, grievance hearings, and other formal meetings as required. The HR Advisor will support the Manager and other HR disciplines by completing specialized projects, with the objective of improving HR functions, efficiencies, and services.
**Qualifications & Competencies**:
- Post-secondary Degree in Human Resources with supporting education in Labour Relations.
- Minimum 5 years’ recent experience in Human Resources and Labour Relations, preferably in a Municipality or Government.
- Three (3) years’ work-related experience involving Labour Relations within a unionized environment.
- Payroll knowledge and experience, with Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification considered an asset.
- Knowledge of HR department functions, procedures, and the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
- High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive documentation and confidential situations with discretion.
- Strong organizational, computer, and communication skills, with the ability to inspire confidence at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to think critically, solve problems, and prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Ability to present to small and large groups of people.
- Class 5 Driver’s License & Criminal Record Check.
