The Sexual Assault Centre requires a

SEXUAL ASSAULT COUNSELLOR

16 hour/week Contract

Classification 111b

C.U.P.E. - Local 4393

Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis (G-W WIC) is a dynamic, community-based, not for profit, feminist organization providing services to women and their children who have experienced domestic or sexual violence and human trafficking in Guelph and Wellington County.

We are looking for a highly motivated social worker with the skills and abilities to join the Sexual Assault Centre staff team to provide trauma counselling to women who have experienced sexual violence. **Responsibilities include**:

- Providing individual **trauma** counselling, crisis intervention and crisis counselling services for survivors of sexual violence.
- Planning, developing and co-facilitating/debriefing open or closed support groups or workshops for women who have experienced sexual violence (past childhood or current assault).
- Maintaining exceptional clinical case notes and documentation within the agency database.
- Acting as an advocate and resource person for the agency and SAC on issues of sexual violence.
- Providing accompaniment as required.
- Providing options, referrals and connections to women and community resources as needed.

**Employment requirements**:

- Masters of Social Work (preferred) with a counselling focus.
- Minimum 3 years previous experience working with and advocating for women and children who are victims of sexual violence and woman abuse.
- Specialized training in sexual violence counselling, including childhood sexual abuse issues and Human Trafficking.
- Specialized knowledge of trauma therapy, mental health and substance abuse issues.
- Advanced knowledge of how sexual exploitation, addiction, mental health and poverty impact survivors of sexual violence.
- Well versed in anti-racism/anti-oppressive practice and a strong understanding of the social determinants of health.
- Demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills.
- Administration/organizational skills with strong computer competency.
- Familiarity with current community resources.

This position is part of the Collective Agreement of CUPE Local 4393.
