POSITION TITLE: Parent Support/Attachment Coach REPORTS TO: Clinical Manager

Location: in Steinbach and Winnipeg. Mileage available.

This position will be a term Full Time Position till December 2024, and switch the part time (3 days a week) hours in January 2025

Position

The Coach works with parents and children primarily in their homes, to improve attachment relationships with their children and develop effective parenting skills. Working in tandem with a Therapist, the Coach provides hands-on, structured opportunities for parents to practice new skills in their home setting. In addition, the Coach helps families to organize their homes and routines to better cope with the demands of parenting and the systems they are involved with, and to assist families to build a circle of support in their communities.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintains professional conduct and ensures confidentiality of all information pertaining to participants’ issues and the Aulneau Renewal Centre.
- Develops with the counselor and participant(s) an appropriate plan for services.
- Refers participant(s) to appropriate resources and other professionals when necessary.
- Attends Modified Interaction Guidance sessions with the counselor and participant(s) where appropriate.
- Provides services in the participant's home and community.
- Evaluates with the participant the effectiveness of services provided.
- Maintains accurate, up-to-date written records of the assessment, intervention, planning and outcome of the services provided and compiles statistics as required and maintains files.
- Serves in an advocacy role for participants when appropriate.
- Works cooperatively with all staff at the Centre to ensure the efficient and smooth delivery of Centre services.
- Communicates and collaborates with other professionals.
- Assumes responsibility for own professional development and stays abreast of current issues and concerns through professional development and by meeting with other workers.
- Forms liaison with other community agencies involved with the child and family.
- Group Facilitation.
- Networks with outside agencies and fosters good working relationships with community organizations.
- Serves on relevant internal and external committees as time permits.
- Performs other related duties required.

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma in counseling, addictions, social services, or community development from a recognized College or a Bachelor degree from a recognized University. Other combinations of qualifications and experience may be considered.
- Training in Attachment Theory and therapeutic techniques is desirable.
- Previous experience working with the Child Welfare system, foster parents, and/or families in a supportive or counseling role.
- Awareness and knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation’s Calls to Action.
- Cultural competency.
- Ability to speak French preferred.
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language considered an asset.
- Professional, courteous and tactful manners.
- Must have a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.
- Must provide a Criminal record check, Child Abuse registry check.
