Retail Salesperson Job Description

We’re looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our sales team at our flooring store. As a retail salesperson, you will greet customers enthusiastically and determine their needs. You will recommend flooring products and services based on their wants, explain the benefits of each type of flooring, answer questions, and demonstrate how each flooring work. You must have an excellent working knowledge of current promotions and sales events, payment and exchange policies, and security practices. You will also stock display boards, mark prices on items, and prepare the floor for displays. This is an entry level position. New graduates welcome

Retail Salesperson Job Responsibilities and Duties:

- Ensure high levels of consumer satisfaction by providing superior sales service
- Assess customers’ needs and provide information and assistance on flooring product services and features
- Drive sales with product knowledge and market-driven enthusiasm
- Maintain presentable and in-stock condition of assigned sections of the store
- Actively seek out consumers shopping in store and offer assistance
- Discuss flooring products offered and available alternatives, including creative financing options
- Ensure proper customer service by teaming with co-workers
- Establish trust relationships with customers
- Attend and participate in sales meetings
- Assist with physical inventory counts
- Help with cleaning and maintenance of the store
- Embark merchandise in delivery trucks using appropriate tools
- Prepare all orders for pick up and delivery

Retail Salesperson Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field preferred
- Working knowledge of market and consumer requirements and dynamics
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency of sales principles and customer service practices
- Knowledge of of digital sales platforms
- Great physical stamina and dexterity

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 20-40 per week

**Salary**: $15.50-$20.00 per hour

Flexible Language Requirement:

- French not required

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Waterloo, ON N2J 4G8: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)
