**Position Overview**:
Reporting to the Manager of Pharmacy and under the supervision of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for clerical function in the area assigned. Duties include unit-dose or traditional dispensing, medication order entry, medication cart refill, ward stock replenishment, inventory management, sterile products preparation, manufacturing and pre-packaging. All rotations include responsibility for continuous quality improvement and workload management. Other duties as assigned. The successful applicant may be required to work at any of the SHN hospital sites / Clinic locations.

**Requirements**:

- Pharmacy Technician Diploma from a Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) accredited college.
- Registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Hospital experience with a computerized unit-dose distribution system and sterile compounding.
- Team player with excellent communication skills, critical thinking and customer service skills.
- Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community.
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
- Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
- Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
- Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
- Excellent work performance and attendance

**Asset**:

- Trained to administer injections, as per Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in multiple acute care hospital settings providing automated unit dose and sterile compounding.
- Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients.
- Certified sterile compounding training i.e. QUESS
