**Nupqu Resource Limited Partnership (Nupqu) **is proudly owned by member communities of the Ktunaxa Nation and operates throughout the Kootenays, in southeast British Columbia. Nupqu offices are located in Cranbrook, Fernie, and Castlegar.

Nupqu is in search of an independent, field based, and organized individual to be the Forest Health Technician. The Forest Health Technician works towards limiting the spread and damage caused by bark beetles within the Rocky Mountain Resource District and to aid in the overall management of insect pests in the district. This is achieved by setting up and monitoring bark beetle traps, using pheromones to direct insects, and by diligently counting and recording trapped insects.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License mandatory.
- Knowledge of bark beetle life cycles and their management best practices.
- Backcountry road driving and navigating experience.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to follow working alone procedures in the remote backcountry.

Job Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

- Set up and take down 65-75 funnel trap sites. Includes hanging pheromones.
- Visit each site every week to monitor, record, and maintain traps.
- GPS trap sites.
- Process, count, and record trapped insects in a laboratory setting.
- Liaise with the Ministry of Forests Representative.
- Follow Nupqu’s health and safety program.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Flexible Language Requirement:

- French not required

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay

Work Location: On the road

Expected start date: 2024-04-22
