**WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THIS ROLE?**
Reporting to the Chief Claims Officer and leading a claims team across Canada, the Vice President, Property Claims will play a key leadership role supporting Definity’s strategic objectives. An experienced insurance operations leader, the incoming VP, Property Claims oversees the property team by creating clear objectives and performance measurements, providing guidance around complexity, and by cultivating a culture of accountability and customer service excellence. The VP, Property Claims plays a critical role by collaborating across the claims division and enterprise, ensuring the ongoing successful build and implementation of Definity’s claims transformation initiatives and broader Definity aspirations for growth. The VP, Property Claims is an exceptional and strategic insurance leader, team player and hands-on “doer” with the proven ability to prioritize and deliver results.
Highly credible and influential, the VP, Property Claims has a passion for insurance and, through their vision, has a natural ability to inspire followership and develop strong relationships with peers and executive leadership. With a deep understanding of the insurance industry and experience within property claims, this Vice President understands not just where Definity’s property claims operations have been, but also provides vision and clarity as to where it can, and should, be in the years ahead. A data-driven thought leader, the VP, Property Claims proactively scans the market for emerging trends. They are willing and able to innovate, have good judgement about which solutions are likely to work based on a combination of analysis, experience and pragmatism, and encourage their team toward continuous improvement and growth. Highly ethical, the VP, Property Claims maintains business confidentiality and always makes decisions in the best interests of Definity and its stakeholders. **RESPONSBIILITIES**
- Lead the property claims team with a fulsome understanding of the broader impact of claims and ensuring the operations are performing seamlessly and efficiently
- Lead, motivate and develop claims leaders to ensure delivery of an exceptional claims experience for our customers
- Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by ensuring all team members feel valued, understand how their contributions are connected to the strategy, and feel personally invested in Definity’s success
- Mentors and coaches the team, inspires purpose, builds credibility and elevates employee engagement through transparency, clearly defined roles and responsibilities, and explicit and measurable objectives and deliverables
- Ensures delivery of key performance indicators utilizing key data and metrics to evaluate performance, ensure consistency, and inspire accountability
- Develop strong working relationships internally with peers and executives in personal lines, commercial lines & actuarial teams, and externally with key brokers and customer accounts, ensuring that issues are addressed in a timely manner
- Develop, implement and execute long term, strategic business initiatives to deliver sustainable, cost effective, and innovative claims results and a consistent, high value customer experience
- Continuous improvement of technical claims handling, focusing on overall claims consistency, thought leadership, best practices, lessons learned and technical training
- Oversee the property damage claims budget with a lens on delivering services in an optimized, cost-effective manner, ensuring growth in Definity’s business without in-tandem growth in expenses
