**The opportunity**:
The primary role of the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is to support University of Manitoba student success goals. The RLC will play an integral role in the University community as a mentor and role model to the student body at large. They are responsible for the promotion of the residence community within the University.

The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of one or more of the following Residences: Arthur V. Mauro Student Residence, Mary Speechly Hall, Pembina Hall Residence, and University College Residence. With assistance from the Associate Director, Residence Life, the RLC will hire, train, and supervise the residence life staff made up resident advisors including a senior leadership team, an Indigenous resident advisor, and an international resident advisor.

The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for the development and coordination of all programming aspects as it relates to residence life and is the primary disciplinary authority for one or more of the residence buildings. The RLC will maintain regular office hours, perform related administrative duties as assigned by the Associate Director, Residence Life and attend/participate in assigned committee work and projects. This position will report directly to the Associate Director, Residence Life. This is a mandatory “live in” position and will be assigned a private apartment within one of the residences. A flexible meal plan is also provided as part of the position’s compensation. This position has vacation restriction(s) in August, and September.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Completion of a formal training program in Student Development, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related discipline from a recognized institute is required, with knowledge and understanding of student development theories.
- Bachelors Degree in Student Development, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related discipline is preferred, with knowledge and understanding of student development theories.
- Three years experience in increasingly responsible positions in a residence environment is required.
- Experience with program planning, training, facilitation, and the implementation of measuring and evaluation tools is required.
- Supervisory and/or management experience is required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are required.
- Philosophy consistent with a team environment is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency at the intermediate level Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) is required.
- Certified in first aid and CPR is required.
- Non-violent crisis intervention is required.
- Ability to organize, schedule, supervise, and assess the work of others is required.
- Ability to motivate staff in a positive manner is required.
- Ability to relate well to students, parents, staff, and general public is required.
- Familiarity with University policies and procedures is preferred.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality is required.
- Must be available on call 24-hours/day (evenings, weekends, and/or holidays) on a rotational basis.
