Localization Content Specialist, Spanish

Company Description
Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely - and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.
Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.
There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a business that is big, meaningful, and lasting. And we are helping sellers around the world do the same.
**Job Description**:
The Globalization team helps to bring Square products and services to the world. Its goal is to leverage Square's success in the U.S. and deliver innovative, simple, unique, and localized experiences to international Sellers. We are looking for a Spanish-speaking localization specialist to join Square's team in Toronto. You will help us shape the Square message with maximum relevance in Mexico, amplifying the brand and products in that market.
You will:
- Interpret Square's content strategy and contribute with an international perspective, tailoring the approach to be the most effective in Mexico
- Contribute to linguistic validation as an expert in Spanish (as spoken in Mexico), upholding a high-quality bar across the asset pipeline
- Work on content related to Square hardware and online products, maintaining glossaries and term bases to ensure consistent use of terminology across UIs
- Conduct localization quality assurance to support product and campaign launches
- Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including localization program managers and product marketing teams
- Understand localization processes and partner with internal and external stakeholders to nurture best practices
**Qualifications**:
You have:
- 3+ years of experience in the localization industry, either marketing or product side
- Native proficiency with Spanish as spoken in Mexico, including strong grammar, writing, and editing skills
- Experience with global brands in a role that engages with outside agencies to manage locally relevant content
- Understanding of the cultural and market landscape differences between Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries
- Familiarity with transcreation, translation, and localization process and technology
- Experience working with Memsource or comparable TMS a bonus
- Experience with long-form online writing (for a blog, brand or website) a bonus
