Environmental Technician

We seek an experienced professional to fill the role of Environmental Technician.

This fixed term and full time position is based at the Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. The mine is fully permitted and began production in fall 2017.

Our Environmental Technician will join a dedicated Environmental team. Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, your role will be responsible for the execution of the Environmental field monitoring and sampling programs as required to fulfill regulatory requirements.

**The Opportunity**
- Work collaboratively with other team members and actively ensure team and departmental compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards and policy
- Execute the existing environmental sampling program, including surface water, ground water and soil sampling
- Conduct site inspections and environmental monitoring
- Tabulate field and laboratory results
- Update databases. Check all results are accurate utilizing quality assurance, quality control (QAQC) procedures
- Work effectively in difficult field conditions with exposure to weather elements and insects
- A personal commitment to behavior consistent with St Barbara's Values including honesty and integrity, respect, working together, delivering to promise and striving to do better
- Completion or near completion of a degree or diploma in one of the following fields of study: Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Technology program
- Computer literacy, particularly MS Office Suite products with an emphasis on Excel
- Ability to complete and pass a background check.
- Current Drivers License
