**Split Shift positions are paid an additional $1.00 per hour premium**

We offer full-day childcare, before and after-school programs, non-instructional school day programming and licensed summer camps. - A very competitive wage and benefit package
- Permanent employees receive a 20% discounted rate to enroll their child in our school age programs
- Permanent employees start with 6% (3 weeks) vacation accumulation, 3 floater days and accumulate 10 sick days per year (but are not paid out)
- Benefits are offered to permanent part time (17.5 hours per week) and full-time employees, and the premiums are employer paid
- Professional growth and development with regular ongoing performance reviews
**The Role**
Reporting to the Supervisor of Child Care, the Child Care Assistant is responsible for the overall learning and care of the children in the program. Working as part of a team, the Child Care Assistant will develop and implement programs, maintain safe environments, work collaboratively with families, maintain professional relationships, and adhere to the Child Care and Early Years Act.
- **Responsibilities**:_
- Ensures all children and families are provided with a high-quality childcare experience, and provides ongoing support to families as needed
- Recognizes and celebrates the uniqueness of all children, builds rapport, and manages group behaviour while ensuring a physically and psychologically safe environment
- Plans and implements a play-based program that is responsive to the observed interests and developmental needs of the children, is familiar with the Provincial framework “How Does Learning Happen?”
- Adheres to all requirements outlined in the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), and all SPC Policies and Procedures

- Experience working with children within a recreational or licensed childcare setting
- Valid up to date Standard First Aid with CPR C (prior to the start of the position)
- Ability to effectively respond to the individual/unique needs of children
- Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services
