**What you will be doing**:
**These positions are available from April 26, 2023 to September 4, 2023.**

**Grounds Maintenance Labourer**:
Cuts and trims grass; performs tree, field and facility maintenance; garden work, rakes leaves; digs and compacts soil; picks up litter and debris, cleans washroom facilities.
Additional related duties may be assigned, depending on the area of work including, but not limited to playground, spray pad and sports field maintenance, grooming, concrete and light woodwork, painting and general landscape work.
Grounds Maintenance Labourer positions are available within our parks, and cemeteries.

**Horticulture Services Labourer**:
Greenhouse maintenance/watering/weeding; plants and maintains flowerbeds, small trees and shrubs; cuts and trims grass; operates various equipment; performs tree trimming and maintenance.

**Forestry Services Labourer**:
Inspects and prunes trees; tree inventory; records data and updates work order system; inspects job sites; and provides customer service.

**Note**: Location of work to be determined.

**Education**:

- Actively pursuing a college diploma or university degree

**Experience and Knowledge**:
Previous equipment operation experience (lawn mower, weed trimmer, pick-up truck) is an asset.

**Skills you will rely on**:

- Power landscaping tools including push mowers, string trimmers and leaf blowers
Pruners, secateurs, shears, saws rakes, shovels, cultivators, edgers

**We will ask you for these items if you are hired**:

- Current and valid Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check to be provided prior to commencement in this position.
Proof of current or future enrolment in post-secondary education.
Valid G2 or G class driver's license.
Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training Certificate from the Ministry of Labour

**Rate of pay**:
$15.88 per hour for a student’s first summer work term as a student labourer with the City of Cambridge.

**Hours of work**:
Eight hours per day, five days per week for a 40 work week, weekends or evenings may be required.

Hours are as scheduled by the supervisor and based on departmental requirements.
