This position is required to work in the Lacombe central office.
However, periodically may be asked to work in other AFSC branches. Travel in these circumstances will be reimbursed according to AFSC’s Employee and Board of Directors Expense Policy.
The Administrative Specialist - Talent and Development plays a key role in providing comprehensive administrative and coordination support to the Talent and Development team. Reporting to the Manager, People Culture and Learning, this role is responsible for executing a variety of operational tasks that ensure the efficient functioning of the department. This position is essential for maintaining smooth workflows and supporting the delivery of HR services. It offers an excellent entry-level opportunity for career development within HR, providing exposure to diverse administrative functions within the Talent and Development area.
What Will Your Growth Opportunities Look Like in This Role?
- Gain hands-on experience in the delivery of Human Resources services.
- Develop skills in employee onboarding, recognition programs, and compliance monitoring.

What Will You Be Responsible For?
- New Hire Support: Assist with onboarding, manage welcome gifts, and coordinate new hire orientations.
- Recognition Programs: Administer Long Service Awards and manage employee recognition platforms.
- Data Management: Update employee information and generate monthly organizational reports.
- Recruitment Coordination: Handle job postings, reference checks, and support recruitment events.
- Compliance Monitoring: Conduct audits and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Survey and Reporting: Manage employee surveys and support data compilation for reporting.

What Are We Looking For From You?
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Collaborative mindset with a focus on achieving shared objectives.
- Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; basic knowledge of SharePoint is a plus.
- Previous administrative experience, preferably in HR.

Education and Experience
- Post-Secondary education in a related field is an asset
- 2-3 years in an administrative role, with some HR related experience is preferable
