**ABOUT BEVO FARMS LTD.**

Bevo Farms Ltd is the largest supplier of propagated plants in North America, providing greenhouses, field farms, nurseries, and wholesalers across the continent with healthy, vigorous, pest-and-disease-free plants. Bevo operates four facilities in the lower mainland of British Columbia; the predominant operations site consists of 38 acres of indoor, climate-controlled greenhouse space, dedicated shipping and receiving bays, and newly renovated office areas.

**SUMMARY**

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Greenhouse Grower who can plan and direct day-to-day greenhouse operations, transplanting and related production and growing related tasks for all crops in their assigned areas. Coordinates with the Production Manager and Head Grower in the assignment of crop related tasks to production personnel ensuring completion of tasks in a timely manner and in accordance with Bevo quality standards.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Establishes effective procedures to coordinate and manage through the Production Manager and the Head Grower, all aspects of seeding, preparation, sticking, pruning, fertilizing, watering, lighting, temperature control, etc. Monitors crops for problems related to the above including use of greenhouse equipment, space allocation and facilities. Repair or perform routine maintenance on equipment and/or coordinate the activities of various trades workers or mechanics as necessary.
- Performs routine detailed inspections of crops for timely identification of problems and growth control. When needed, acts to use plant growth regulators to rectify growth issues. Inspect the crop for parasites and fungi and take measures to prevent damage to the crop. Provides training to personnel to perform required duties and to ensure systematic back-ups are developed. Maintains and reviews with the Head Grower the necessary records and corrective actions taken for quality non-conformance.
- In conjunction with the Greenhouse Supervisor, plans to obtain/assign greenhouse personnel to achieve proper manning to workloads, training, ensuring adequate safety and supporting strong workforce motivation. Weekend turning shifts may be required depending on time of year. Willingness to work in multiple locations.
- Reviews daily and weekly greenhouse production performance and communicates as necessary to senior management and sales staff, on variances to schedule or productivity. Maintains records and growth logs for climate settings, changes, spraying, biological introductions, irrigation cycles, and other information relevant to each product.
- Ensures sound hygiene and housekeeping practices are in place and maintained throughout the indoor/outdoor facility. Implements routine procedures to ensure safe working conditions and that Worksafe BC compliant working practices are understood and adhered to. Takes immediate actions on unsafe or improper work practices.
- Takes proactive steps to develop the skills in assigned personnel. Conducts all necessary performance reviews in accordance with Bevo’s policies.
- Under the direction of the Head Grower undertakes Research and Development Projects, ensuring proper monitoring and record keeping of all projects.

**REQUIRED SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE**
- Successful completion of a formal program in Horticultural, Agricultural or Greenhouse operations management or;
- Equivalent supplemented by formal technical training or greenhouse hands-on experience
- A demonstrated effective greenhouse management performance from three to five years of directly related experience in the crop propagation industry.
- Demonstrated strong planning, supervisory leadership, judgement, technical performance, and effective interpersonal and people development skills.

**MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS**
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Able to begin work at 6AM on business days, with occasional hours required on Saturdays.
- Must possess own transportation
