Overview:
Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, the Human Resources and Labour Relations Advisor supports primarily the Greater Montreal Area (GMA) and secondarily Eastern Canada by advising on matters related to Employee and Labour Relations. This includes supporting the administration of Collective Agreements, advising the business on key matters such as language interpretation, grievance management, the duty to accommodate process and other legal matters, preparing and leading the collective bargaining process, and supporting other initiatives as required. This dynamic role is focused on providing consultation to the business on strategic planning and employment related issues, while developing and managing human resources programs and procedures for departmental development along with leading HR projects and initiatives.

**Responsibilities**:
**Safety**:

- Demonstrates an awareness and commitment to a safe work environment.
- Understands the safety objectives of the organization and supports these by taking action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviors do not occur.
- Promotes Health & Safety initiatives/program and participates in Safety activities within the Product Lines.

**Labour Relations**:

- Takes ownership of preparation for, and participates in and/or leads, collective bargaining.
- Provides expertise on contract interpretation and coaching of front line managers.
- In collaboration with the Senior HR Manager and LR Manager provides advice and guidance to the market in disciplinary matters, grievance management including investigations, attending meetings, tracking progress and drafting responses.
- Coordinates the pre and post ratification process.
- This includes: proactively facilitates the preparation of bargaining tools including researching settlements, preparing wage comparisons, populating costing model and populating the mandate book, facilitate and be accountable for completion of the post ratification process which includes the preparation of Data Change Form (DCFs) in a timely manner and following up on programming and wage changes. This may include validating retro payment calculations as required.
- Manage the process for the preparation and or review of drafts for ratified collective agreements.

**Analytics**:

- Researches, develops, analyzes data and makes recommendations for collective bargaining agreements including, but not limited to, competitive analytics, language review, recommendations to strategy, economics and compliance.
- Proactively analyses field issues and trends to implement actions designed to increase employee engagement and morale.
- Stays abreast of provincial/federal labour legislation, best practices, etc. and manage/implement changes to affected Lafarge policies and practices.

**HR Operations and Employee Relations**:

- Supports and advises on various HR Operation queries including but not limited to investigations, organizational structures, recruitment, etc.
- Handle other employee relations’ issues as assigned.
- Supports the implementation of Corporate Human Resources programs, policies, procedures and projects pertaining to talent development and retention, performance management, training and development, compensation, benefits, diversity and inclusion, etc.

**General Administrative Responsibilities**:

- Creates and maintains relevant reports for internal record retention.
- Manage arbitrations, grievances and Human Rights claims tracking as needed.
- Manage the accurate filing of contracts and grievance data management.
- Perform other administrative duties as required.
- Acts as liaison with the Ministry of Labour and outside agencies.

**Relationship with Other Jobs**:

- This role will have a high level of interaction with HR Directors, HR-LR Managers, HR-LR Coordinators, HR Generalist along with business managers

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Preparation and execution of the negotiation and interpretation of 1st level collective bargaining agreements
- Grievance process management and accurate tracking
- Identification of potential improvements to the language of the collective agreements and implementing during bargaining or grievance resolution along with sharing the information with the team
