**Position Description**:This educator will be working with a small group of 2/3 year olds with an additional educator both in the classroom and off site in the forest or at the beach. Parts of the day will be as a larger group with other educators, and parts of the day with a smaller group. You must enjoy working outdoors, and be comfortable being the lead teacher at times. This would mean doing circle time, art, etc. (you would still have another educator with you, however they would be supporting our unique child). This educator will be responsible for following our program which includes circle time (music, movement, stories, yoga), nature exploration (respecting nature as you play), nature art (using loose parts: fir cones, sticks, rocks), and wides area games.

**Required Experience**:

- Minimum 3 years of experience working in a licensed childcare program with children 3 to 5 years old
- Creative, open minded and team oriented
- Valid Early Childhood Educator License issued by the BC ECE Registry
- Special Needs and Infant Toddler ECE an asset
- Valid First Aid/CPR
- Clear CRC upon hire
- Good knowledge and awareness of BC ELF
- Good knowledge and understanding of child development
- Good Knowledge of Reggio inspired practice an asset
- Effective guiding and caring skills
- Good communication skills
- Able to work in a diverse and inclusive environment

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Use team approach to plan, implement and evaluate a developmentally appropriate, Reggio inspired, inclusive and high-quality program for children ages 2.5 to 5
- Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of children
- Guide and assist children in the development of daily care routines
- Establish and maintain good communication and rapport with parents and caregivers
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with other community service providers working with children
- Light housekeeping to ensure program facilities and equipment are safe and clean
- Participate in ongoing internal and external professional development

**Salary & Benefits**:

- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
- Wage: $25/hour plus MCFD Wage Enhancement

**Additional Notes**:
We are a small Reggio-inspired preschool/daycare with a daily outdoor component. We are located within walking distance to a beach, children's park, as well as having a large yard/garden on site. We believe that children are capable individuals who observe the world around them, gather information through natural play and rich interactions, and that children develop best at their own pace, in an atmosphere of respect and acceptance. **Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6-9 months

**Salary**: From $25.00 per hour
