Maria Montessori Academy is a preschool - grade 12 independent school in Victoria, BC. We offer dynamic, inclusive, and hands on education to students in multi-age groupings. This is a community oriented school with low student/teacher ratios and an all around excellent working environment.

**Position Summary**:
Working under the direction of the classroom teacher(s) and the supervision of the school Principal/Vice Principal, you will work directly with students to provide a wide range of academic assistance, monitoring behavior and facilitating integration in the classroom and school environment.

No two days will be the same—you will be called on to facilitate student learning individually or in small groups, document daily progress, support students in learning social behavior or life skills, as well as lunch/recess superivision. In this variety-filled role, you may also attend meetings with teachers, parents and therapists.

This position will involve working through three different elementary classrooms supporting students who have Ministry designations as well as supporting students who require additional support.

**Qualifications**:
Completion of Grade 12

Previous experience working with young children

Completion of a college/university program in the area of school community support, social service, or education assistant is an asset

Ability to work with with a full range of students, including students with special needs

Strong communication skills

Ability to perform job duties with mínimal supervision

A clean criminal record check

Emergency First Aid / CPR C certification
