**Hours of Work**:37.5 per week - flexible to shelter needs - on call weekend rotation
**Position Description**:
The Manager of Amowacistin Pahkahokowin provides family housing for:
- The prevention of child apprehension, preparation for family reunification, and support for families who have been reunified
- Teens in the care of the Ministry of Social Services; and
- Families who are experiencing homelessness
The Manager, in close coordination with the Director of Women’s Housing, is responsible for overseeing the smooth daily operations of Amowacistin Pahkahokowin. Responsible for building, leading and coaching a cohesive team, Amowacistin Phakahokowin will provide trauma-informed services to some of our community’s most vulnerable citizens. The Amowacistin Pahkahokowin team is responsible for creating an environment that promotes safety, support, trust, and respect by cultivating healthy relationships and implementing programming largely based on traditional Indigenous teachings.
Managers will also work closely with the rest of the Women’s Housing Leadership team to ensure the priority of providing a continuum of care is maintained.
**Responsibilities**:
**Staff Support**
The Manager will support a cohesive and effective staff team that works collectively to support clients. Specifically, they will:
- Provide day to day coaching, support, information and guidance
- Ensure that all shifts are filled and maintain a list of casual staff
- Debrief conversations, incidents, and case management procedures with staff to continue best practice in supporting women, families and youth
- Maintain regular communications within the team
- Evaluate performance, document personnel issues that may arise and communicate plans for improvement
- Work with the Director of Women’s Housing and Director of Training and Development to identify and implement staff training.
**Administration and Accountability**
With input from and support from the Women’s Housing Department, this position will support the coordination of policies, systems and processes necessary to ensure the program is running efficiently and effectively and is achieving desired outcomes. Specifically, they will:
- Monitor budgets
- Maintain high quality services and programming based upon best practices in the field
- Look for opportunities to refine and improve services where possible
- Oversee efficient, effective, and trauma-informed data collection with careful attention to requirements set out in funding agreements
- In cooperation with the Director of Women’s Housing, meet all reporting and licensing agreements
- Ensure a good working relationship with other departments of YWCA Regina and with outside agencies
- Attend relevant community meetings/events as requested
- Oversee the general maintenance and operations of the program
- Code, submit, and track receipts/invoices and ensure spending for both salary and non-salary expenses falls within the budget as provided by the Director of Women’s Housing
- Other duties that may arise in the operation of the program or the YWCA.
**Engagement with Indigenous Communities and Culture**
Managers and team members are expected to work towards developing familiarity with Indigenous cultural traditions and an engagement with Indigenous people and communities. This will require regular communication with the Cultural Coordinator, YWCA Regina Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
**Qualifications**:
A working knowledge of both administration and program needs. A solid knowledge of family residential agency operations is essential.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, history and practice as well as evidence of extensive engagement with and commitment to Indigenous community
- Demonstrated experience working with the complex needs of people experiencing homelessness
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology or other human service field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Good managerial and organizational abilities, previous personnel management experience preferred
- Experience liaising with the Ministry of Social Services
- Crisis intervention skills
- Strong leadership and a clear understanding of teamwork
