**Bookkeeper**
Permanent - 35 hours/week (Full-time)

**Position Summary**

**Responsibilities**

**Payroll & General ledger**
- Enter payroll data, and electronically process payroll on a biweekly basis to ensure pays are issued on time.
- Verify employee hours worked and ensure proper approvals and controls are followed.
- Ensure all banking information for each employee is correct.
- Manage payroll errors and correct issues for employees.
- Maintain the payroll master file information and input into departmental summaries
- Process and balance yearly reports such as T4 summary and source deductions.
- Create reports to manage payroll payments, deductions, and other regular modifications.
- Assist with gathering payroll information for annual external audit
- Prepare month-end and year-end financial reporting, reconciliations, and journal entries ensuring accurate wage and salary expense allocations.
- Maintain bank account records, reconcile bank accounts, and balance cheque books
- Code invoices for approval, prepare cheques and submit payments
- Administer group insurance and pension plan payments to service providers
- Prepare and issue invoices and follow up on late accounts
- Record cash receipts and make money deposits and maintain and reconcile the petty cash funds
- Respond to inquiries and requests regarding payroll and other bookkeeping duties

**Pension and Benefits Administration**
- Maintain Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly Pension Contribution tracking files and related reports to our Pension Administrators.
- Manage communications with Staff regarding Pension and Benefits enrollment status and respond to Staff queries as needed.
- Escalate Staff Pension and Benefits items, seeking prompt resolution to outstanding matters.
- Consult with HR for the coordination of Pension and Benefits Administration

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in accounting, mathematics, economics, business or similar field
- Strong accounting and bookkeeping skills with an attention to detail
- Minimum 2 years of proven bookkeeping experience including payroll processing
- Experience using Sage 50 for bookkeeping a strong asset
- Experience using ADP Workforce Now a strong asset
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
- Exceptional organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Ability to exercise good judgment and use discretion
- Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
- High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information
- A satisfactory criminal records check
- Willing to work within a Catholic values framework
