As we approach high season, we are looking for a motivated and friendly part-time weekend Counter Server to join our fast-paced, high energy, cafe in Oak Bay.

The Pure Vanilla Bakery & Cafe team is looking to hire a hardworking individual who enjoys the food service industry, excels in a fast paced environment, and takes pride in their work. Experience in hospitality is required, and working knowledge of a commercial espresso machine is a definite asset. This is a great opportunity to join a family owned and operated, independent cafe

**Responsibilities**:

- Deliver amazing and safety first, customer service
- Genuinely connect with each guest to develop professional & community based relationships
- Complete daily and weekly tasks assigned by management
- Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and management
- Maintain current knowledge of the menu items and be able to operate POS system efficiently
- Ensure company standards are met, report concerns directly to the Shift Supervisor and/or Café Manager
- Operate, maintain and properly clean café equipment
- Maintaining overall café sanitization and cleanliness
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience
- High school education or higher preferred
- Experience using a commercial espresso machine is required
- Experience in the hospitality industry is recommended
- FoodSafe certification is mandatory
- Must be highly motivated with great multi-tasking ability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent written and spoken English required
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- Detail oriented, ability to perform tasks in a timely manner
- Maitre’d or equivalent Point of Sale (POS) knowledge is required

Schedule:

- Part-time: 12+ hours per week depending on availability. Subject to change as seasonal RTOs come into place
- Cafe hours are 7:30AM - 4:00PM weekdays, and 8:30AM - 3:00PM weekends

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
