**Description**

**Key Elements**:

- Responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time and according to company policies and applicable government legislation.
- Review and execute additions, deletions and changes in our payroll system
- Perform audit checklist procedures before and after payroll runs to ensure payroll accuracy
- Collaborate with payroll provider on required basis to ensure the accurate transfer of payroll data
- Act as the initial point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and problem resolution
- Ensure timely and accurate feeds from the payroll system to other downstream systems
- Payroll systems updates may be required from time to time, appropriate testing to ensure a smooth transition will be required
- Maintain strong working relationship with unionized employees as well as their representatives
- Work with the Finance department to provide required information/assist with audit requests
- Track and consolidate overtime and absenteeism data for reporting to management
- Prepare, develop and assist with ad hoc reports and projects as a member of Total Rewards Team
- Compile and analyze data from multiple sources to maintain relevant information that aid in the development of analytics and reports (headcount reports)
- Work with members of HR&C to help identify and create tracking/reporting protocols for key metrics
- Serve as back up for other payroll processing and inquiries as required

**Required Qualifications**:

- University Degree or Diploma in Business, Payroll or HR discipline
- 2 to 3 years payroll experience
- Ability to deal with confidential information with a high degree of diplomacy
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
- Advanced MS Office skills, especially MS Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables)
- Strong team player capable of performing in a fast paced deadline driven environment
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Certified Payroll Association designation (CPA)
- Certified Human Resource Professional designation (CHRP)
- Experience with an automated timekeeping system
