Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Welding Intern will be working on but not limited to:
- Assisting Welding Supervisor and Engineering Manager in developing, trouble shooting, designing, testing and training with fabrication drawings and procedures;
- Following welding procedures to ensure quality products are always manufactured;
- Supporting the welding supervisor to initiate any cost savings projects within the welding department;
- Conducting time studies to improve efficiency and productivity.
The Welding Intern must be able to lift 30 lbs. The Intern will be expected to work in both an office and shop environment. The split is anticipated to be about 50% office and 50% hands-on shop work.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Being familiar with welding principles is a must. (basics of arc welding, types of welding, etc.);
- Able to map processes and write procedures;
- Be results oriented, take ownership of tasks assigned;
- Practice a strong safety culture;
- Possess strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills;
- Possess strong interpersonal and teamwork skills;
- Have strong written and oral communication skills;
- Be able to work in typical MS suite programs.
