**What you will be doing**:
The ohpikîhakan Foster Care program at The Family Centre has a unique approach to foster care that emphasizes the holistic needs of children and youth, including having a strong emphasis on cultural and relational connection, as well as reunification with family and community. In this model, caregivers receive extensive initial and ongoing training, are supported by therapeutic supervisors, and are an integral part of the support circle surrounding children, youth, and their families.
Reporting to the Program Manager, Family Support Services, the Therapeutic Supervisor, Foster Care is involved in the training, equipping, and supervision of caregivers, providing high-level support for caregivers of marginalized children and youth aged 0-17 who have Children and Family Services involvement, including a significant proportion of Urban Indigenous, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit individuals, refugees, first-generation Canadians, and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals who have experienced the impacts of colonization, trauma, and multigenerational abuse and neglect. As a self-starter passionate about working with vulnerable people, you will excel in regularly meeting in caregivers’ homes to provide therapeutic supervision, including ongoing teaching and support, responding to emergencies and incidents, and reviewing associated critical incident reports.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new caregivers.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions from Western and Indigenous frameworks.
- Provide regular in-home therapeutic supervision and ongoing teaching support.
- Respond to emergencies, incidents, and review critical incident reports.
- Conduct group supervision focused on clinical consults and Trauma-Informed Care.
- Audit files to ensure paperwork completion and ethical objective meeting.
- Monitor and analyze program and client data for development and evaluation.
- Encourage professional development and self-care strategies for caregivers.
**What you will bring to the role**:
- Minimum Master’s degree in psychology, therapy, counseling, or related field.
- Certified and registered with a professional association and in good standing.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in counseling or working with vulnerable families in a therapeutic or supervisory role.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment, problem-solve with a non-confrontational approach, and navigate courageous conversations effectively.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills, with reliable and flexible availability, including some evenings and weekends.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, being proactive and highly engaged.

- As part of the selection process, The Family Centre will conduct reference checks with your most recent employers. Additionally, the following requirements must be met:
- Police Information Check - Vulnerable Sector (completed within the last 6 months)
- Child Intervention Records Check (completed within the last 6 months)
- Our Children Are Sacred Youth Suicide Prevention Training or ASIST Suicide Intervention Training, required within 3 months of start date
- Standard First Aid Level C CPR certification
- Reliable vehicle, available for regular use and valid driver’s license
