**_DUTIES _**
will also be responsible for mentoring students; liaising with Indigenous and northern communities and organizations; and fully participating

**_REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS _**:

- A Doctorate in Education with evidence of study in Indigenous Studies, Indigenous Pedagogy and/or land-based Education is
- preferred to be considered for the Assistant Professor classification- A Master’s degree in Education with evidence of study in Indigenous Studies, Indigenous Pedagogy and/or land-based Education is
- preferred to be considered for the University Instructor classification- Consideration may be given to applicants with Bachelor of Education and relevant experience who will commit to enrolling in a Master’s
- of Education program- A minimum of five years teaching experience in First Nations or provincial public school (K-12) with consideration given to applicants

with majors in Special Education/Diverse Learning Strategies, Curriculum, and/or Social Foundations including teaching the current
Manitoba middle years curricula (Grades 5-8) in language arts, social studies, math and or science
- A permanent Manitoba Teaching Certificate or equivalent from another comparable jurisdiction
- Experience in curriculum development at the middle year level and/or land or place-based learning
- Understanding of cultural and language influences specific to adult learners in northern communities
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
- Strong critical thinking and leadership skills
- Commitment to life-long learning

**_ASSETS _**:

- Experience and/or knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures- The ability to speak an Indigenous language
- Knowledge of the Kenanow program model
