**The Opportunity**: A Learning Specialist to advocate, intervene and act on behalf of the CICE student with faculty, other College students, and College-wide services. The incumbent tutors individually and within groups and assists in the integration process in the classroom. The Learning Specialist is responsible for the preparation and modification of course outlines, tests and assignments in collaboration with the faculty. The incumbent is responsible for a workload consisting of assigned students and courses with class attendance and tutoring, as well as other related responsibilities. Weekly timetable will reflect a combination of attending classes with students and other success strategies that support CICE students and the program. This position requires technical knowledge of programming in the trades area including but not limited to motive power, machine shop, construction, and welding. If no students are enrolled in these areas in a particular semester, this position would support students in other areas of study as required.

**What you need to be successful**:

- Three-year diploma/degree in Human Services or Education
- Valid CPR, First Aid, and WHIMIS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting and/ or tutoring individuals with significant learning and/or cognitive challenges
- Minimum 2 years of experience with trades equipment and understanding of safe handling
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment both face-to-face and remotely
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to creatively solve various problems
- Display an understanding of adaptive equipment
- Strong commitment to student success
- Knowledge and aptitude working in the trades area

This is a full-time support staff position, 35 hours/week, Payband G - $30.56-$35.42 (starting rate $30.56).
