LANXESS is a leading specialty chemicals company with sales of EUR 6.1 billion in 2021. The company currently has about more than 13.000 employees in 33 countries. The core business of LANXESS is the development, manufacturing and marketing of chemical intermediates, additives and consumer protection products. The **Elmira** facility is a state of the art production facility used to manufacture synthetic lubricants and additives for lubricants, plastics and rubber. In addition to the main production facilities we have a comprehensive wastewater treatment system that is used to treat all of the process wastewater that is generated on site, and a groundwater treatment system to remove historic contaminants prior to discharge. The Elmira site is also home to a pilot plant, which is used by our scientists and engineers to develop and test new products and production processes.
Situated on 75 acres (of which 22 acres are used for operations), the manufacturing facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our hourly employees are represented by the United Steelworkers Union.
The **West Hill** facility began its operations in 1962, The first operation at the West Hill site consisted of a custom blending facility for a major Canadian oil and gas company. In 1992, the property at 565 Coronation Drive was purchased. It currently houses offices, a research and development laboratory and a finished goods warehouse.
Today, around 100 employees work at the West Hill facility where we manufacture Grease and Specialty Additives. Our grease is used to keep machinery running smoothly in food processing, manufacturing, marine, power generation and many other industries. Our Specialty Additives and lubricants are used in automotive, marine and aviation oils, transmission fluids and fuels to enhance performance and extend engine life.
Both sites (Elmira and West Hill) are registered under the ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management standards.
**Job Highlights**:
- Responsible for leading the HR function in order to meet the strategic and operational commitments of the business unit(s) and HR function with a high degree of effectiveness
- Act as a liaison between employer and employee, overseeing employee relations, to support a positive culture
- Involved in escalation of disciplinary or legal action when necessary and/or consistent with collective bargaining agreements
- Updating employees with any changes in company policy provisions
- Advising assigned supervisors on treatment of staff, company policies and legislative updates
- Resolving and mediating employee complaints
- Supports strategic workforce initiatives, partnering with Regional HR Partner to achieve Business Unit (BU) objectives.
- Represents locations on community advisory panels as appropriate
- Uses financial data, data trends and market information to accurately support quality solutions to business issues
- Conducts investigations
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in HR or related field, certification preferred (CHRL, CHRP)
- 5-10 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong employment law knowledge
- Proven ability to lead and influence change
- Self-driven, proactive problem solver with great communication and interpersonal skills
