The Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) is actively recruiting for an Editor-in-Chief to join our Digital Solutions department.

We are a fully remote workforce and are looking for someone who is able to be fully productive, efficient and effective in a remote environment.

**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Vice-President, Digital Transformation & Chief Information Officer, the Editor-in-Chief leads and manages the Editorial Teams to ensure operational efficiency for the on-time delivery of current therapeutic and drug information content which drives core revenue for CPhA.

The Editor-in-Chief provides leadership and representation for CPhA and the pharmacy profession with key stakeholders i.e. government, members, advisory committees, health stakeholders etc. The Editor-in-Chief is key to ensuring CPhA content strategy continues to evolve.

**Duties and Tasks**

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for, but not limited to:

- Mapping out a content strategy that supports and extends the Canadian Pharmacists Association’s reach and brand, both short
- and-long term, determining which methods work for the brand and why.
- Planning, organizing, scheduling, directing and managing content teams & related activities which implement and actualize strategy, by considering the Information Architecture, content taxonomy, content type, editorial process for maximum impact & ensuring better patient outcomes.
- Developing, managing and motivating a team of professionals.
- Ensuring effective implementation of human resources policies and procedures, including recruitment, performance management, and employee morale, training and coaching.
- Establishing clear, measurable objectives for the content teams. Monitoring and measuring objectives regularly, coaching as required.
- Establishing and maintaining a positive atmosphere for employees through open communication
- Ensuring internal editorial processes and standards are continually improved to produce high-quality publications and ensuring all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of editorial standards in scientific publishing, medical evidence, regulations pertaining to copyright and intellectual property
- Identifying, engaging and liaising with expert authors, reviewers, Editorial Advisory Committee members, Practitioner Review Board members and other stakeholders as required
- Ensuring the validity and integrity of created content through vigilance for conflicts of interest and other potential sources of bias
- Liaising with external stakeholders in government, associations, academia
- Communicating with senior staff on matters of interest or concern

**Qualifications**

**Education**
- University degree in pharmacy or medicine, with special knowledge in drug information, pharmacology and therapeutics.
- Licensed pharmacist or physician in a Canadian province.

**Experience**
- Extensive experience in a senior leadership role leading managers and diverse teams.
- Significant management experience in a digital publishing environment & associated technology (e.g. XML)
- Experience in drug information & therapeutics
- Extensive experience in clinical practice in health care
- Experience with peer-reviewed medical publishing
- Current Council of Science Editor (CSE) membership or eligibility

- Familiarity with the health care system in Canada and political, social and ethical issues affecting health care
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry
- Ability to display a commitment to and advocate for diversity and inclusion
