Yates Memorial Services is an independent, family run funeral provider serving the Mid Island Region, Alberni Valley, and West Coast of Vancouver Island under the ownership and leadership of Rae and Barry Tuck. Yates has two full service facilities and offices in both Parksville and Port Alberni, two cemeteries, two crematoriums, and a certified Green Burial Cemetery section. **Position**:Transfer & Removal Technician

**Probationary Period **6 (six) months. Monthly reviews will be conducted by

Yates Operations Manager.

**After Hours Calls**: Transfers and removals are paid at a rate of $85.00 per call

**Work Week**:The _After Hours Transfer Team_ works on a monthly schedule with the on-call transfer staff working a week at a time on a rotation basis. During on call weeks availability is required from 4:30pm-8:30am on business days, 24 hours a day Saturday and Sunday. Shifts begin at 4:30pm Friday and run until 8:30am the following Friday.

Monthly schedules are drawn up annually. Team members have the flexibility to change the schedule among themselves providing: 1) coverage is ensured at all times and 2) the Management Team is notified of the change so that the necessary documents can be updated.

If, for any reason, you are unable to cover your scheduled time, it is your responsibility to find a replacement. Any changes must be relayed to the Management Team so that the necessary records and documents can be updated.

**Duties**:Include but are not limited to:

- Transfer and removals of deceased persons
- Assisting in all aspects of removal and appropriate storage of deceased persons including the logging of personal effects transferred with the deceased
- Maintaining, fuelling, and cleaning the company removal vehicle as necessary
- Maintaining and stocking of a personal removal kit with the necessary items to ensure personal safety while handling deceased persons posing a possible health risk

**Dress Code**:As a Transfer and Removal Technician you are often the first contact client’s will have with our organization. The Transfer Team members are to be neatly dressed in appropriate office wear at all times. Blue jeans and other forms of casual attire are not acceptable.

**Evaluation**: Employee duties and performance will be evaluated on an annual basis and documented for the employee file.

**Confidentiality**: All employees of Yates Memorial Service are required to sign a _Confidentiality Agreement_ prohibiting them from discussing or otherwise disclosing company business or client information of any nature to sources outside of this company. (Attached and becomes part of these terms of employment.)

**Employment**

**Contingency**: Must hold a valid minimum class 5 driver’s license. A copy must be placed in the employee file.

Must provide a driver’s abstract dated within the last two (2) weeks. This document will be placed in the employee file and must be updated on an annual basis.

Must have or immediately take steps to get appropriate protection with regard to Hepatitis B virus

A Criminal Record Check is required.
