What You’ll Do- Effectively direct handle and mentor a pending of large loss and complex claims nationally, while providing brilliant customer service and technical guidance & advice to staff.- Represent our customers and Aviva at mediations arbitrations trials and other litigation processes.- Contribute to the creation of an environment for people to do the best work of their lives & building of a stronger casualty team by helping to develop other employees’ technical and strategic skills.- Identify and collaborate with team members to effectively manage loss cost & expenses and improve system conditions, which affect customer service, team environment, and financial performance.- Identify opportunities to continuously improve our operation through the removal of waste and inefficiency while ensuring that claims policies and procedures are consistently applied.- Be a role model of our Aviva values.- Communicate effectively with confidence, curiosity, and courage, and in a collaborative manner.- Comply with Regulatory and corporate guidelines.- Ensure key risks are identified, measured, monitored and effectively managed.- Effectively collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to identify trends and forecast large loss development while acting as a technical resource for senior management, underwriting, finance & actuary.

- Secondary Education, CIP and FCIP strongly preferred.- 7 + Years progressive casualty claims experience across all casualty lines.- Currently at least a Grade 7.- Minimum 3 + Years of proven experience in handling large and complex casualty claims with extensive experience in coverage analysis, investigation, and quantum evaluation. Experience in class action claims, severe losses, mediations, arbitrations and trials preferred.- Prior leadership experience an asset.- Expert knowledge of insurance practices, operations and processes.- Good knowledge of claims center, Qlik, and appetite for data analysis and trends.- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.- Excellent coaching skills.- Ability to mentor, challenge and grow with a diverse but highly experienced team.- Proven ability to work well independently yet still support team goals and work collaboratively for the benefit of the team and the organization.- Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.- Detail-focused, highly analytical orientation.- Demonstrated ability to think strategically with problem solving skills.- Highly motivated and well organized.- Licensing across Canada is preferred.- There will be some travel involved in this position.
