The District is embarking on an ambitious plan in the years ahead to improve the quality of life for our community, with one of our key focus areas being the mobility and transportation needs of those that live, work, study and play here in supporting our Official Community Plan goals.
You are a leader, a communicator and a team player who works well with project stakeholders. You have a background in transportation engineering and planning, sound knowledge of traffic operations and analysis, road safety and street design, traffic regulations, planning skills in pedestrian and bike facilities, on-street transit facilities, goods movement, emergency response routes, disaster response routes and sound knowledge of transportation infrastructure asset management. You will need to consider both localized interests and more regionally significant initiatives.
You are a balanced negotiator with an excellent understanding of both public and private interests. Politically astute, you understand the importance of integrating transportation with land use and the influence this has on outcomes for community well-being, liveability, the economy, the environment and resilience. You have the ability to make complex technical analysis based on data and statistics; interpret engineering plans and specifications; write and present clear, concise and complete reports on technical transportation problems; act as engineer-of-record or project sponsor, if needed, to ensure delivery of desired outcomes; negotiate complex issues with a variety of public and private organizations in the best interest of the District and tax payers; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. Your time management and presentation/communication skills are strong and you are able to find practical solutions to complex problems.
**Qualifications**
You have a degree in Civil Engineering plus a minimum of seven years’ progressive experience in a transportation and mobility planning and design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Municipal, transportation agency, highway agency or major transit project delivery is an asset. A valid B.C.
Driver’s Licence is required.

**Salary**:The pay range for this position is $140,984.96 to $156,672.27 per annum (2024 rates)
**Hours of Work**:35-hour work week (Compressed work schedule available)
