We are currently recruiting a Tool Crib Assistant to join our operations team. The Tool Crib Assistant works mostly at our main yard and will assist with shipping, receiving, loading, unloading, stocking, inventorying, distributing, and ordering tasks.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Follow daily work instructions as given by the Tool Crib Attendant
- Maintain good working relationships with customers, subtrades and suppliers frequenting the yard
- Maintain positive public regard for Gateman-Milloy Inc.’s management, employees, vendors, and customers at all times
- Perform routine daily maintenance on equipment and small tools that are returned to the tool crib including checking fluids, greasing, track cleaning and general cleanliness and report mechanical and other failures, malfunctions or deficiencies in a timely and accurate fashion to the Tool Crib Attendant.
- Return company tools and equipment to a secure area prior to leaving each day
- Comply with the duties outlined within the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Constructions Projects & Industrial Establishments as required
- Open up the shop each day
- Stocks, orders, counts, tracks, maintains, ships, receives, delivers, picks up, loads, unloads, small tools and equipment, construction, first aid, building maintenance and waste removal and safety supplies and materials, project start up supplies and vehicle keys
- Perform regular maintenance including replenishing paper and other supplies in all bathrooms, locker rooms, and kitchens and replenishing all first aid kits, fire extinguishers and safety equipment in all company buildings
- Perform carpentry and any other quasi trade duties as may be assigned
**Requirements**:
- Ability to work independently
- Relationship management skills in order to comfortably and effectively interact with vendors and all levels of internal staff are required
- Communication skills (listening, verbal, written)
- Ability to use MS Excel and Word and general familiarity with computers
- Strong organization and planning skills
- Ability to lift approximately 50lbs at various intervals throughout the day
- Familiarity with construction tools and materials
- Familiarity with the operation of large construction fleet equipment (loaders, backhoe, etc.)
- A highschool diploma or relevant years of experience in shipping, receiving, or in an order desk position is preferred
- A valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and clean drivers abstract
