**Job description**

Job Description: Mechanical Fitter (Gear box fitter)

Location: Cambridge, ON

**Summary/Objective**:
Precise fit-out of gearboxes, pumps and valves; balancing and testing; assembly of equipment plus associated components and general fitting, as well as general Turning and Milling.

**Responsibilities**:

- Gear box rebuild and rebuild sections
- Ensure sufficient task analysis is completed to carry work out safely.
- Perform assigned duties in a timely and safe manner.
- General machining including use of: Large and Small Centre Lathes, Milling Machines etc.
- General fitting including the use of: Gear reduction Units of all size and type & other Rotating Assemblies
- Coordinate and work in a team environment.
- Maintain and use equipment as designed.
- Ensure all work is carried out to quality Hofmann standards or other specification requirements and that documentation is completed on time.
- Adherence to Company procedures.
- Application of fine tolerance to machined surfaces when fitting bearings, gearing, seals etc. to shafts and hubs with respect to heating/freezing techniques and the like.
- Ability to inspect, analysis and record critical mechanical information during the process of undertaking mechanical refurbishment work; this critical information would include the interpretations of wear and tear, mechanical damage to Gears, Shafts, Housing etc. recording of end floats, preloads, gear train, backlashes, tooth contacts and other at the start and completion of every refurbishment.
- Ability to make rough sketch and accurately measure mechanical components from Gearboxes other Drive Equipment.
- Perform mechanical repairs, manufacture components and other duties as directed by the Manager.

**Qualifications**:

- Machine Fitter Trade certification / Mechanical Technician / Millwright/Industrial Mechanic preferred
- 5 years experience including general machining and or knowledge of gearboxes, pumps, valves, mining equipment.
- Sound knowledge of Quality processes.
- Preferable welding and gas cutting competency.
- Previous experience with the installation, assembly, maintenance, or repair of equipment.

**Salary**: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
