**Job Description**:
**POSITION PURPOSE**
Reporting to the Supervisor, Accounts Payable, is responsible for performing various accounting and financial functions, with an emphasis on processing of accounts payable transactions, through an on-line computer system; reviewing accounts payable transactions for accuracy, completeness, tax status and ensuring compliance with the Regional Payment Policy, the Regional Procurement Policy and Signing Authority; and distributing disbursement documents, as per predetermined issuance guidelines. This role will also provide backup support to Accounts Receivable when required.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Reviews mileage and personal expense requisitions for accuracy and compliance with Regional guidelines.
- Reviews and enters accounts payable transactions from various corporate sources into the Region’s ERP system.
- Monitors, reviews for accuracy and ensures current information has been posted within the accounts payable system vendor file.
- Maintains records in hard copy and electronic format in accordance with Regional standards.
- Completes timely and accurate account reconciliations for accounts assigned.
- Responds to inquiries and liaises with vendors, Departmental staff and service providers on accounts payable and payment matters.
- Handles or refers requests for information to appropriate staff for follow-up.
- Provides input into constructive change in accounts payable procedures.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Successful completion of a Post Secondary Certificate/Diploma (1 year or more) in Accounting or Business or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge, of general accounting practices, principles and procedures, with emphasis on Accounts Payable, in a computerized accounting environment and knowledge of a large ERP Accounts Payable module.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
- Knowledge of general office and accounting procedures and records management.
- Mathematical ability to complete accounting transactions and accurate calculations.
- Ability to identify and communicate areas for constructive change in procedures.
- Ability to travel to offsite locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
- Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
