**Role impact**:
The Manager, Climate and Energy will execute key strategic business platforms and tools, and will be the lead on specific requirements/needs for the department. This role will develop, execute and provide technical expertise for sustainability, energy management, and decarbonization initiatives and programs to reduce costs and carbon emissions, streamline internal processes and resources, and implement industry leading initiatives promoting CF’s brand and leadership.

**What you will deliver**:

- Work with the Director, Climate and Energy and other Climate and Energy Manager(s) to develop and implement energy/carbon reduction and sustainability initiatives including but not limited to CF’s national sustainability program, Green at Work.
- Work with the team in the development and execution of National programs and standards to support continual cost reductions, process/resource improvements and decarbonization.
- Provide technical expertise and insights for benchmarks and third-party sustainability certifications (i.e. Energy Star Portfolio Manager, ZCB, LEED, GRESB, etc.) being project managed by CF’s National Operations department.
- Lead the review and pilot of select innovation and technology opportunities including improving the sub-metering/data collection process at the properties
- Review existing ASHRAE energy study reports or Low carbon transition plans and perform a high-level assessment including a walk-through audit of each major process area of each site, to identify energy saving opportunities and to identify which systems will require more detailed evaluations.
- Review and provide a description of sub-meters, control systems, operating schedules, and maintenance practices to identify operational savings. Help develop maintenance practices and programs to enhance energy efficiency.
- Coordinate the implementation of energy or carbon-saving projects, including the planning, budgeting, and scheduling for the design, installation, commissioning and verification of energy efficiency/decarbonization projects. Work with the project manager assigned for large capital projects.
- Responsible for supporting the success sustainment of the CF’s corporate wide on-going commissioning tool, Energy Smart Operations (ESO). ESO is in steady state since 2018 and with the help of external consultants and internal experts, it has demonstrated to be an effective means to leverage analytics to help optimize building performances.
- Support the ongoing sustainment and deployment of CF’s national initiative, HVAC artificial intelligence. The HVAC AI platform collects data from building automation system and creates complex mathematical models in BAS to reduce energy use without compromising operational requirements.
- Work to create and foster a sustainable energy management culture and provide an avenue for staff to recognize and report issues and ideas regarding energy conservation and efficiency.
- Participate in the property Employee Engagement Committee to discuss a property awareness program to promote energy conservation and communicate the energy efficiency initiatives undertaken.
- Collect relevant information regarding additional electrical energy use (equipment purchases, schedule changes, occupancy changes or construction).
- Work with teams to prepare annual capital and operating budgets taking into account planned changes including energy projects.
- Work with the team to support energy procurement, utility hedging/budgeting for some of CF’s Canadian portfolios
- Contribute to the advancement of CF’s emission target, climate resilience considerations, and ESG strategy to drive impactful changes

- Knowledge and experience in sustainability reporting or certification frameworks is an asset (LEED, ZCB, ESPM, GRESB, BOMA)

**What you need to succeed**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field of study (e.g. Electrical/ Mechanical/ Energy/Environmental/ Engineering, Building Environmental Science, Statistics, etc.)
