Toronto, Canada Expedia Group Full time

As PR Specialist for Canada, you will be responsible for talking with media every day to build positive relationships and drive locally relevant, high-quality outcomes for our brands. You will work closely with team members within the company, to shape the narrative in the market and to drive the three distinct Expedia Brands to new heights. You will act as an invaluable consultant for the wider team on key CA PR campaigns, areas of sensitivity and local cultural nuances.

You will possess a strong network of media contacts and a keen eye for developing stories and initiatives, which will gain the attention of both the media and the Canadian public. You are a proactive individual that will constantly be growing and building relationships with Canadian media through unique and engaging ways. Working alongside our external partner in Quebec, you'll collaborate and help provide direction on localized storytelling moments for the media within that province.

You’ll be based in Toronto, reporting to the PR Lead for Canada. You will collaborate with the wider global Brand PR, Americas Media Relations, and Social Media teams. You will have 3rd-party and/or business experience, as well as possessing a can-do attitude, be resolute, and able to learn quickly.

**What you’ll do (Responsibilities)**:
Media Relations/PR
- Regularly interact with media, including online, print, radio and television outlets, to help secure stand out coverage for the Expedia Brands in Canada
- Be responsible for responding to media requests in a timely manner and understanding when requests need to be escalated
- Help to offer media relations input to manager for the development of localized PR plans, and strategies
- Help to develop PR editorial/activity calendars for region / market / brand
- Assist manager in development of campaign and press materials (including but not limited to: localizing press materials, sourcing budget quotes and cost analysis, compiling survey results, trafficking images, editing text, etc.)
- Help to facilitate press trips, site visits and media events
- Help to define metrics and identify KPIs for media relations activity and PR campaigns

Data and reporting:

- Track all coverage and provide regular reports to manager / team as required
- Utilize tools to facilitate simple data pulls that inform avenues for outreach and service media inquiries

Admin/other:

- Facilitate contest fulfillment while working with customer service team: traffic waivers to legal, liaise with winner(s), and supply timely updates
- Compile travel information and make bookings for media when required
- Assist manager with tracking expenses; proactively provide receipts for all transactions and input expenses in an accurate and timely fashion
- Assist manager with submitting invoices
- Traffic customer service letters / issues with appropriate parties
- Other duties as assigned

**What we're looking for**:

- Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in public relations, communications or media relations
- A developing understanding of the Canadian media landscape across print, broadcast, and online outlets
- A go-getter: this role will require initiative and strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with journalists from the ground up, and the ability to adapt quickly to match the travel landscape
- A creative thinker and storyteller who understands how to find unique angles and make something newsworthy
- A strong multitasker with the ability to work with multiple information streams and critical pathways; this role touches all three brands in Canada with overlapping priorities
- A winning attitude with the flexibility to adapt and learn in a rapidly changing global market
- Familiarity with French considered an asset, but not required
- Familiarity with Cision or a similar platform considered an asset
- Knowledge of Canadian Press style formatting an asset
- Excellent written and communication skills
