Our Records team is looking for a new Freedom of Information Clerk (Temporary As Required) to play a pivotal role in supporting the needs of our Service. **About the Role - How you will Contribute to the Service**:
You will be responsible for processing information sharing requests. Assist in the processing of notebooks received in the FOI unit for storage. Assist the Freedom of Information Unit in the processing of requests under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), and act as backup to the Freedom of Information Analyst, as delegated.

Some major responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Receive and process requests for information sharing from other government institutions, severing sensitive third-party information as required.
- Receive and process information sharing request, severing sensitive third-party information under supervision.
- Respond to basic FOI inquiries in person, by telephone, facsimile or electronic mail, and/or relay calls or messages to appropriate person(s) for resolution.
- Receive, process and record monies recovered from access requests.
- Receive date stamps and distribute incoming mail and process outgoing mail for the unit.
- Draft general, routine, form letter correspondence relating to access to information requests.
- Under the direction of the Information Privacy Officer, participate in the purging of aged files.
- Other related duties as assigned.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear an concise manner, using correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.
- High attention to detail and research skills
- Excellent problem solving and organization and planning skills
- Able to deliver excellent customer service experience to our community members
- Highly motivated team player
- Excellent Microsoft Word skills
- General interest in learning about freedom of information request/legislation
- Demonstrated ability to learn records management systems (i.e. CPIC / Niche) in order to process information sharing request
- Prior experience with writing formal letters
- Demonstrated ability to learn information (i.e. Municipality Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) quickly

**Education, Certifications and Qualifications**:

- High school education plus related college courses such as business administration, and computers.

Note:

- The contract will be a 6-month term contract with the possibly to extend another 6 months due to workload volume.
- The successful applicant will need to pass a background check to the satisfaction of the Service which will include reference checks with previous employers, verification of educational achievements, and a criminal background screen.
