JOB SUMMARY

The Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC) is a national rating system that measures and certifies the level of meaningful access of buildings and sites. An RHFAC rating helps municipalities, property managers and developers to better understand their site's physical accessibility and how to identify barriers for their community, customers, or employees.

The Assistant, RHFAC, will support the RHFAC team with day to day operations and administrative technical program components and research. This position works closely with and reports to the Technical Lead, Accessibility Certification.

In this role, the Assistant has the opportunity to engage and learn about the many important factors that contribute to making buildings more accessible to everyone, including users with disabilities, and the operations of a certification program. The Assistant will also support the team in enhancing RHFAC's technical program components, develop educational and training materials, analyze and understand principles of universal design, and build relationships with industry professionals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

**Main duties include, but not limited to**:
Assist with research to inform the accessibility certification program;
Assist with content development for webinars and external presentations;
Support the coordination of external committees and the execution of action items; and
Perform other related duties in keeping with the purpose and accountabilities of the position.

PREFERENCES

Some post secondary education is an asset, preferably in related fields such as accessibility, architecture, property management, and construction;
IT, Graphic Design/ UX/ UI background is an asset;
High degree of professionalism and strict adherence to maintaining confidentiality and privacy;
Effective oral and written communication skills and excellent attention to detail;
Computer experience with MS Office;
Strong attention to detail; and
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

An equivalent combination of education, experience and skills/behaviours will be considered.
