The Health Workforce Planning and Accountability Division oversees the provincial workforce policies and regulations, provider compensation, health provider major agreements, and the governance and administration of the Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Agreement. The division works in close collaboration with its key stakeholders, including physicians, professional colleges and associations, and other partners, both internal and external to the Government of Alberta, to design and administer evidence-informed, value-oriented policies and health benefits that serve the needs of all Albertans.

**Role**:
Reporting to the Strategic Projects Manager, Budget and Analytics Unit, the Projects and Process Analyst supports a team that is accountable for leading, developing and participating in complex, strategic projects aligned to divisional and Ministry priorities. The Projects and Process Analyst is responsible for providing project management, strategic oversight and leadership for complex projects and policy direction related Ministerial priorities and health workforce in Alberta, including formal negotiations with the AMA. The position contributes to strategic, effective processes and projects within and between branches and divisions by fostering linkages between plans and activities, projects, and business goals within the Ministry. This position contributes to effective operations of the division, and by extension the Ministry, though the coordination of regular and ad hoc strategic projects. Projects can range in size and scope (e.g.: divisional, cross-divisional, external). This position influences immediate and future strategic direction of complex health workforce projects, ensuring alignment with divisional and Ministerial priorities.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support the Manager, Budget and Analytics, with the coordination, preparation and management of activities related to negotiations with physicians and other health professional associations and the development of applicable policies and processes that will be required under negotiated agreements.
- Provide project management and secretariat support.
- Participate in the development of research, analysis, and advice related to provider compensation for the Department.
- Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of quality partnerships with internal and external partners (e.g., other Divisions, contractors, patient and professional associations, health sector industry and providers).
- Support the Manager, Budget and Analytics in promoting the effective operation of the Branch and seamless facilitation of the Division's Strategic Projects.
- Leads project work and work with other project staff and/or consultants to ensure timely project completion, as required by each assigned project.

**Qualifications**:
A **University Degree** in a Public Administration or other related field (e.g. Economics, Public Health, Management or related Health Profession), and a minimum of **two years** of progressively related work experience is **required**.

**Required **experience includes:

- Demonstrated ability to undertake research and environmental scans to inform recommendations and strategy
- Experience in strategic planning, policy development, facilitation, and/or negotiations
- Experience in coordination, consultation, and strategic communication (e.g., writing briefing notes and creating presentations)
- Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing

**Other Assets**:

- Project management experience
- Knowledge of Government business, standards and protocols
- Experience within the public sector (e.g., Government of Alberta or another provincial government) or health system (e.g., health authority)
- A comprehensive understanding of the responsibilities, functions, mandates, and priorities of Alberta Health as well as the Health Workforce Planning and Accountability division and branches
