THE OPPORTUNITY
The Analyst, Liquidity Risk & Leverage assists in the measurement, monitoring, and management of liquidity risk and leverage. The scope of this role covers analysis of market data, research of best practices, operations, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the liquidity risk and leverage processes. Liquidity risk and leverage are an integral part of BCI’s Investment management process with key stakeholders that include BCI’s clients, the BCI Board, and BCI’s Executive Team.
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Investment Risk. The Investment Risk Team is one of the branches of Investment Strategy & Risk; it focuses on the measurement and management of asset class, total portfolio, and client investment risks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have:_
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in finance, economics, commerce, statistics or a related discipline
- 1-3 years’ experience in the risk management or investment industry
- An enthusiastic and cooperative attitude and be able to work independently and function well in a team environment
- An ability to demonstrate adaptability in a high-paced environment
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong conceptual skills and attention to detail with high level of commitment to quality work
- Understanding of analytical tools and their data needs as well as basic risk management methodologies
- Sound working knowledge of Excel & VBA
- Broad knowledge of financial instruments
- Understanding of basic risk management methodologies, analytical tools and data needs
- Ability to express complex and technical concepts in a clear and concise fashion to stakeholders
- Diplomatic, tactful and strong interpersonal skills
- Preferred:_
- Experience with liquidity risk and leverage metrics such as LCR, HQLA, Financial and Economic Leverage
- Experience with stress testing and financial forecasting
- Familiarity with systems such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, and risk calculation systems
- Pension fund, bank or asset management experience
- Professional designation (CFA or FRM)
- Proficiency and project experience in R Studio and/or Python
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports the monitoring of day-to-day operations regarding liquidity risk and leverage
- Ensures all analysis is complete and accurate with thorough commentary, while escalating issues in a timely manner
- Assists in the development/enhancement of liquidity risk and leverage measurement by being curious and proposing improvements
- Takes part in developing risk-reporting templates
- Participates in documenting procedures and directives
- Gathers and organizes data from various sources
- Stays abreast of regulatory changes or market developments that may impact BCI exposure to liquidity risk and leverage
- Fulfills ad hoc requests as required
