**During the summer, **the Camp Coordinator will provide leadership to our Program, Waterfront, and Day Camp Director teams. They will help to run staff meetings, review camp schedules, coordinate departments throughout camp, and act as the staff lead during the Summer Camp Directors’ time off throughout the summer.

**During the fall, winter, and spring**, the Camp Coordinator will split their time between working to coordinate outdoor centre groups, manage staff, and assist in preparations for the upcoming summer. They are the main contact with group leads when they are on-site ensuring they have a positive experience, are provided with a high level of customer service and that all needs are met. Programs range from teambuilding activities, canoeing, kayaking, archery, axe throwing, low ropes, high ropes, initiatives, environmental programs and much more. In addition, the Camp Coordinator assists in mentoring and supervising staff, the development of new programs, as well as the revision and amendment of existing programs.

The position is best suited for individuals who are self-directed and able to work with little supervision. This person should have a basic understanding of all departments at camp and have the ability to see how they are interconnected. They will also support the kitchen, help with facilities work, as well as assist at Cedar Glen Outdoor Centre with their groups & programs.

Accommodation and meals are provided on site at no additional cost while there are groups or campers onsite; however, staff living on site may be scheduled for 2-3 on-call evening shifts per week.

**In this role, you will**:

- Provide direct program delivery to participants and campers of all ages in a fun, engaging, and safe manner. Programs include activities such as low and high ropes courses, archery, orienteering, fire building, canoeing/kayaking, shelter building, initiatives and many more
- Act as the primary host and facilitator for individuals and groups, ensuring group goals are met and overall satisfaction with facilities, programs and staff
- Supervise, mentor, and provide leadership to Outdoor Educators, Program, Day Camp, and Waterfront Directors. Helps with the writing and delivery of seasonal staff performance appraisals. Is a presence within program helping to ensure the programs are consistently run to YMCA standards
- Assist with research and development of new outdoor education/leadership & summer camp programs, supports with the inventory, organization and maintenance of all program equipment
- Work closely with the year-round team, as well as other seasonal supervisors, to collaboratively plan and deliver training to all staff to prepare them for their roles related to waterfront, land based, and day camp programs
- Monitor the safety of all activities and programs throughout the duty period and responds immediately to rectify any safety concerns, fills out YMCA Accident/Incident forms and follow up forms as required and submits within 24 hours
- Ensure Health & Safety procedures are maintained, and shares with the staff team the duties of ensuring camp is clean, organized and safe to ensure the Health & Safety of all camp participants. Acts as a role model to other staff in this area, ensuring that they are portraying positive habits on a consistent basis. Supports in kitchen and maintenance roles as required
- Continuously builds relationships with participants, members, staff, volunteers and community partners, representing the YMCA, Association, and Camp Pine Crest in a professional manner
- Perform other duties as assigned

**You bring**:

- Completion of post-secondary courses in Outdoor Recreation or a related field is an asset
- Minimum 2 years prior experience working in an outdoor centre or summer camp in supervisory role
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C required for the duration of the contract
- National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification preferred
- Challenge Course/High Ropes training and experience - ACCT Level 2 is an asset
- Wilderness First Aid certification (WFR, WAFA, WFA) is an asset
- Valid G Class Drivers License preferred (F Class an asset, or willing
