**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role, you will:

- provide analytical and logístical support to the Human Dimensions of Sustainable Resource Development research program
- assist, coordinate and oversee research that addresses key ministry priorities
- lead projects, support policy development, and communicate progress of the program to internal and external clients and stakeholders
- assist in development of research/contract proposals and oversee delivery of service contracts
- deliver public presentations and participate in science forums and working groups/committees

**How do I qualify?**:
**Technical knowledge and skills**:

- knowledge of the human dimensions of resource management including a demonstrated experience working with Indigenous peoples
- experience planning and carrying out qualitative research, assessing public participation, community engagement and conducting interdisciplinary research
- experience with analysis and interpretation of data in support of policy development
- knowledge of natural resource management principles and the legislation, manuals, guides and environmental assessment conditions that direct resource management in Ontario

**Communication and interpersonal skills**:

- well developed interpersonal skills to respond to inquiries from clients/partners (e.g. collaborators, contractors, consultants, staff and forest industry)
- communicate effectively to present information/recommendations, and to provide clear instructions in the use of survey methods, computer software as well as field and laboratory equipment
- leadership skills to provide training, assign and monitor work and report on progress

**Analytical and problem-solving skills**:

- sound analytical and problem solving skills to make decisions to determine the nature and extent of deviations from existing data collection standards/protocols and recommend corrective action
- resolve technical problems, gather/analyze information and determine options and best course of action
- proven experience to work through issues/situations while working in the field

**Planning and coordinating skills**:

- planning and coordinating skills to organize, schedule and coordinate human and equipment resources (e.g. vehicle transportation, aircraft, base camp equipment) for field projects
- initiative and good judgment to determine the approach to a task and to resolve issues
