**Overview**:
Under the supervision of the Richmond Art Gallery Director, the Exhibition & Gallery Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, financial management, and marketing functions of the Gallery, following established City protocols. The position communicates directly with artists, designers, shippers, and many others in support of the curatorial and program team in service to the mission of the Gallery to promote dialogue among diverse communities through the presentation and promotion of local, national and international contemporary art. The role requires a combination of business acumen, interpersonal skills and practical abilities as well as creativity and artistic appreciation and awareness.

Richmond Art Gallery (RAG) is a non-profit municipal art gallery established in 1980. The gallery produces an array of exhibitions and programs that connect, empower, and provoke conversation with our diverse Richmond, BC communities. RAG actively contributes to Richmond’s cultural communities through our commitment to supporting artists via exhibitions, educational programs, publications, and a permanent collection.

**Examples of key responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Prepares, negotiates and oversees fulfillment of formal agreements with artists and external partners such as catalogue designers, writers, guest curators and art institutions, in consultation with Director and/or Curator.
- Obtains quotes, negotiates loans of artworks, and contracts art transport regionally, nationally and internationally.
- Monitors agreements in regard to contractual obligations, processes invoices and fee payments; prepares insurance claims in events of loss or damage.
- Prepares, oversees, and manages operational and project budgets; monitors for adherence and recommends changes as necessary in consultation with the Director.
- Maintains files and archive records of all Gallery activities, including photograph database.
- Assembles, evaluates, and interprets statistics on attendance and participation; writes membership, volunteer, financial and year end summary reports.
- Coordinates and schedules travel arrangements, interviews, and meetings.
- Oversees marketing and promotion of Gallery exhibitions; manages social media accounts.
- Provides information on programs and department policies to group members and the general public in accordance with established practices and procedures.
- Recruits, trains, and schedules gallery volunteers and seasonal staff.
- Performs other duties as required.

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:

- Knowledge of gallery practices and principles including preparation, conservation, and installation of exhibits.
- Knowledge of marketing best practices, media and community relations, graphic design, printing and writing for publicity materials.
- Sound project and records management abilities.
- Sound interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to assist in preparation, planning, research and installation of exhibitions.
- Ability to type and process administrative work and prepare correspondence and reports.
- Ability to prepare reports and manage budgets involving arithmetical and statistical computations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members, the public, community partners and volunteers.
- Ability to recruit, train, and schedule volunteers and seasonal staff.
- Ability to write clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work with mínimal direct supervision and deal tactfully and effectively with municipal officials and employees.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Mandarin and/or Cantonese language skills is an asset.
- Ability to successfully pass a Criminal Record Check.
