**What will you do at Ciena?**
Reporting to the Director, Component Distribution, the Distribution Specialist is a key member of the Procurement team ensuring the organization is monitoring the areas most important to the overall Supply Chain organization. In addition, this role will support the management of the Distribution Partners and governance and performance of these partners.
This role represents an excellent career development opportunity for individuals interested in expanding their knowledge of supply chain, interacting across the supply chain, and driving projects related to Ciena’s supply chain business strategy.
**Responsibilities**:
- Support successful delivery of Agility process transformation, change management enabling clear visibility of the effectiveness of the program.
- Key Team member for all business flowing through our 3rd party Distribution partners. Support all commercials, execution and performance management of this part of our supply chain.
- Evaluate monthly invoicing claims and issuance of Purchase Orders
- Act as key escalation point between the Materials Management organization, our Contract Manufacturers and Party Distribution partners on passive technologies.
- Work together with the Global Commodity Management (GCM) teams, as well as extended supply chain primes to ensure the right governance and performance of the program.
- Provide content to management for quarterly internal Operations Reviews
- Driving end-to-end lowest total cost of ownership of material flowing through the component supply chain from component suppliers, through Ciena’s third party component distribution partners and to/through contract manufacturers. This to be accomplished by ensuring the right model/fit and agreements are in place to enable the objectives and corresponding processes are in place to track and drive adherence.
- Manage relationships and performance of component distribution partners in part, by coordinating quarterly business reviews through facilitating internal collaboration of stakeholders on scoring and reporting of KPIs for their areas of responsibilities.
- Drive initiatives to improve operational efficiencies and challenge partners to provide new supply chain models and value-added services (Spot Buy Desk, Re-packaging service,)

This role is a key strategy for Ciena’s supply chain performance and reports directly to the Director, Component Distribution.
Experience
- Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization both internally and externally.
- Strong analytical abilities: financial, operational, supply chain, market, data mgmt.
- Strong communication skills: preparation of meeting material, written, verbal.
- Comfortable in presence of and/or presenting to executives.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and fast-paced environment.
- Supply chain and/or procurement experience (5-10 years)
- Anticipates and resolves issues; proactive in planning and follow up.
- Ability to handle extremely confidential information with complete discretion.

- Business acumen and strategic thinking
- BA/BS in Supply Chain Management/Business or related field required.
