The Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program delivers group education/counselling to domestic violence offenders. Funding is provided to offer victims/partners safety planning, support and referrals to community resources, together with feedback about the offender’s progress during the program. Partner Contact is a mandatory part of the PAR program (unless partner contact would place either party at risk).
Hours are primarily evenings, however will be required to work other times concurrent with Partner Assault Response groups.
**Responsibilities and Duties**:
- Create and maintain records for each victim/partner
- Provide victim/partner communications and supports
- Record contacts and contact attempts
- Know confidential practices and limits to confidentiality
- Provide safety planning, support and information to the victims/partners
- Provide referrals to community resources that may assist the victim/partner
- Provide information to the victim/partner that may help them to make informed decisions about their safety and their relationship with the offender
- Complete quarterly statistics for partner contacts to provide to admin services for submission to MAG
**Qualifications**:
**Education, Training and Experience**:
- Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant, health-related discipline of study; University degree preferred.
- Two years’ experience working in Adult Mental Health and Addiction.
- Knowledge regarding partner abuse, child abuse and the dynamics of violence and abuse.
- An ability to articulate an analysis of domestic violence as it relates to gender roles, socialization, the dynamics of power and control, and the effects of abuse on women and children.
- A general understanding of the policies and procedures of local police, Crown attorney’s office, courts, and probation and parole, as relating to domestic violence and Ontario’s Domestic Violence Court process.
- Must be an advocate for the eradication of domestic violence recognizing the impact on mental health, wellness and the overall wellness of families and communities.
- Ability to work independently and interdependently, good time management skills
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Requires analytical skills to gather and disseminate data from different sources
- Ability to adapt to changing environments
- Must be available to testify in court
- May be required to work alone outside of regular business hours
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector police records check required.
- Demonstrated crisis intervention skills/experience and ability to respond to crisis situations as they arise.
- Ability to work within Mental Health Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care guidelines, Psychosocial Rehabilitation Practitioner’s Code of Ethics, Best Practices, LLGAMH program standards.
- Compliance with Policy AH-C5 COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
**Salary**: $27.21-$28.92 per hour
Expected hours: 12.25 per week
