The 2IC is an addition of a tier in the team purposed to increase the depth of team leadership. The Assistant Supervisor is considered to be a Senior Shift Lead who takes on additional duties and responsibilities by working closely with the Site Supervisor. The Site Supervisor will often delegate tasks to the Assistant Supervisor to be done in his/her absence. The Assistant Supervisor is expected to take on bigger projects and distribute them into smaller tasks and then delegate these tasks to the Shift Leads. The ability to plan and multitask is absolutely essential for this role. The Assistant Supervisor will be a resource to the team members and will assist Site Supervisor in coaching, mentoring and corrective actions. The Assistant Supervisor will develop a deep understanding of all systems as they relate to security. The Assistant Supervisor will be aware of, will analyze and will recommend changes to existing standard operating procedures.
The Assistant Supervisor is not only a key piece to induce leadership into lower levels of team structure, but is also a key position in Succession Planning. Both objectives are achieved by The Assistant Supervisor by the way of a continuous two-way communication of issues, information and ideas between the site Leadership and the workforce.
**Responsibilities**:
- Supervise the site security staff and act as a resource for any issues in accordance with Paladin and client policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to guidelines and standards for security staff to maintain the highest standard of quality.
- Monitor performance and behavior of officers and document/discipline staff where standards are not being met; provide regular and thorough feedback to the Site Supervisor and CSM/Account Manager.
- Arrange and conduct training for all new site officers and ensure all orientations and paperwork are complete and on time.
- Ensure all Reports are completed, and each Officer submits complete and accurate daily reports and incident reports. Follow up with inaccuracies or omissions. Review all site Incident Reports and escalate incidents as required.
- Assist Site Supervisor in finding areas of development in staff training, systems and existing procedures and will recommend plans to improve.
- Participate in regular meetings with the client and Site Supervisor.
- Complete and maintain records and prepare replacement/service reports and other safety and security incident documentation.
- Complete projects in a timely and professional manner, as assigned by the Site Supervisor or CSM/Account Manager
- In the absence of the Site Supervisor, maintain availability for after hours emergency phone calls; act as the site officers’ first line of contact as needed.
- Communicate any site issues to the Site Supervisor, CSM/Account Manager, and client as required.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum of one year of supervisory experience in security, or a combination of relevant experience and education.
- Completion of the Paladin Supervisor Training course
- Strong knowledge of Access Control, Fire Control, CCTV, and other site-related systems.
- Valid OFA2 is an asset but must be willing to obtain certification if accepted.
- Ability to lead, plan, organize, delegate, and solve complex problems.
- Effective communication skills, both in writing and verbal, including delivering presentations to groups.
- Excellent customer service, professionalism, and observation skills.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Basic computer proficiency, report-writing, and note-taking skills.
