**Work Hours**:9am-5 pm, occasional evenings and weekends

**Wage**:$21.62-$25.45/hr

**Start Date**:As soon as possible

**Closing Date**:September 7, 2023 4pm

**Location**:Hospice Peterborough, Hospice Norwood (at least 1 day a week)

Hospice Peterborough is seeking a full time Volunteer Services and Rural Program Coordinator to support its robust volunteer program and wonderful volunteers.

**Job Purpose/Summary**:
Works with the Volunteer Services Lead in the coordination, development, and support of volunteers at
Hospice Peterborough, and in the coordination of volunteers and programs at Hospice Norwood.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Volunteer Services Delivery:
Provide administrative support for the delivery of Volunteer programming and services at Hospice
Peterborough and Hospice Norwood. Duties and responsibilities include: o Support of volunteers - individual and in groups on a daily basis, developing a rapport and encouraging involvement of volunteers in the Hospice services o Schedule volunteers including: Residence, Reception, and Community o Maintain accurate records and ensure appropriate collection and entry of data for programs statistics using established computer programs. Statistics are key to Hospice funding and reporting o Be responsive and adaptable as service provision and client needs often change due to client’s palliative diagnosis. Volunteer needs and availability may also change on short notice. o Collaborate with other departments to schedule and support volunteers on an as needed basis, for example for events such as Hike for Hospice o Serve as a link between staff and volunteers for clear communication and collaboration o Other duties as needed, Hospice culture is that staff pitch in on an as needed basis, for example this position in particular occasionally requires the Coordinator to cover for the volunteer receptionist if they are not able to come in on short notice

**VOLUNTEER SERVICES AND RURAL PROGRAM COORDINATOR**:

- Collaborate with the Volunteer Service Lead to organize and deliver core volunteer training and continuing education for volunteers
- Program coordination and support at Hospice Norwood: o Coordinate programming in collaborating with other members of the Hospice Team.

This may include planning, scheduling, and arranging activities, supplies, equipment, facilities and volunteers for groups o Connect with clients participating in programs as needed o Assist residents in the Norwood area in obtaining more information about HospiceNorwood by being present within Hospice Norwood and by connecting with community partners in the area o Support client’s from the Norwood area with a palliative diagnosis, caregivers and people experiencing grief to remain connected to the broader palliative care team through Hospice Peterborough and community health supports o Provide assistance to support groups facilitated at Hospice Norwood, including setting up the space, tracking attendance for statistical purposes and assist the group facilitator as needed
- Facilitate Internal and External Relationships o Support a team based culture among volunteers and staff o Participate in education for staff, volunteers and members of the community. o Support Volunteer Services Lead in coordinating education for volunteers o Work with Volunteer Service Lead in connecting volunteers with external education such as offerings through Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO)

**Organizational Responsibilities**:

- Participate in assigned Hospice activities and committees
- Complete administrative reports accurately in a timely manner
- Participate in an annual performance appraisal
- Fulfill all responsibilities in accordance with the by-laws, policies and procedures and standards of

Hospice Peterborough
- Represent Hospice Peterborough in selected community activities, education opportunities and committees
- Willingness to accept other duties as required
